Getting Started:
Greetings Archanics, Cosmonauts, and all adventurers in between!
"This campaign will be set in a universe of my own but with the D&D IN SPACE aesthetic of Spelljammer. While travel will mostly be through the vast void of the Cosmos, players will encounter a wide array of settings as they trek to different planets. My hope is to work with players so that we can come up with settings/planets that everyone will want to play!" - Lafi, Our Spell-Jammer DM.
The party's main mode of transportation will be their Spelljammer which will act as their base of operations. The campaign's progress will be based on enhancing the Spelljammer and its crew. The party will have opportunities to obtain other ships as well. The more powerful the ship and crew, the more places you can explore!
Characters should be motivated to traverse the Cosmos. A character could be seeking their fortune, running away, or wanting to explore far-off worlds as just a few examples. Character creation is as follows:
-Characters will start at level 1.
-Any official D&D 5e content may be used. 3rd party content subject to DMs approval.
-Starting equipment will be determined by your class.
-Any alignment is permitted.
-Feats from a chosen background for your character will not be used.
-Character Stats. are calculated by point buy.
Anyone interested in playing and has questions about dates or the campaign itself, please free feel to reach out or comment! ______________________________________________ Session 1 Summary:
After discovering their new spell jammer, the party inspected the vessel for damages. They came to the conclusion that the ship was in need of some minor repairs to sail, and an entirely new helm if they wanted to fly.
While the party may repair the ship on Loxschmear to make it seaworthy, they will need to set sail in search of a helm. However, the Isles of Vyr are treacherous, and the closet Cosmahabor is a 4-day sail to Vyrtra, the hub city of the Isles of Vyr.
After the inspection and charting a course, the party began searching for a crew. The following people have joined:
-3 Fisherman: A group of fishermen agreed to travel with you to Vyrtra so that they may trade goods with the many exotic vendors of the city and then return to Loxschmear.
-4 Villagers: Young glory seekers have decided to join the crew to find fame and fortune!
-Writo Cert – Navigator (Wizard): A navigator for the Isles of Vyr to ensure there are current maps of the area as the Isles are composed of shifting icebergs. He has agreed to travel with the crew to map out the path to Vyrtra.
-Warta Resto – Druid: Worshiper of Lorn, she travels the Isles of Vyr to ward off evil spirits of nature to ensure that the Isles don’t float adrift from Lorn’s guidance.
Some of these crewmates were harder to win over than others. Warto would not leave Loxschmear until the Yeti terrorizing the Island was slain. After defeating the Yeti, a Yeti Tyke was found, and the party took it with them.
The crew is now 13 people total, the exact amount to set sail! The party may travel to Vyrtra to obtain a spell-jamming helm! ______________________________________________ Session 2 Summary:
The party went their first voyage on the Risky Business! Sailing through the Isles of Vyr was treacherous. The party encountered a band of pirates. After slaying their cannon-wielding captain, the 4 pirates remaining were easily persuaded into joining the crew.
During the crew’s downtime, the party noticed something fishy about the Loxschmear native, Sproket. He cheated the other villagers in a few rounds of cards by playing with a marked deck. The party took note of this and subtly informed him that they knew of his behavior. Risky even chipped him a platinum coin (10g) in admiration.
After the party gets their new crewmates acclimated, and a well-earned rest they will find themselves in Vyrtra. ______________________________________________ Session 3 Summary:
The party docked in Vyrtra after their first voyage on the Risky Business! After being cheated in cards and reporting them to the authorities, the party went to the Temple of Lorn with Warta Resto. In return for slaying a beast with an evil spirit deep within the Mead Mountain the Temple agreed to give a Spell Jamming Helm to the party upon proving their kill of the Beast.
While Warta continues her search for the Beast within Mead Mountain, the party encounters another crew member, Navigator Writo Cert. Writo was feverishly studying for his exam for the College of Vyr. Should Writo pass, the school will start funding his exhibitions which Writo plans to use for a Spell Jammer.
To aid Writo, the party stole a copy of the exam from a professor at the college. A new party member, Kiryu, was accompanying them. While the professor’s clerk knew someone had broken into the office, the exam was swiftly stolen and all party members escaped campus unsuspected of any wrongdoing! After delivering the exam to Writo, the party took a long rest. ______________________________________________ Session 4 Summary:
The party awoke on their ship docked in Vyrtra. All crew members were accounted for except for Navigator Writo Cert, and Warta Resto. The party concluded that Writo was taking his exam so they decided to search for Warta. Warta’s body was found hanging from the stalactites of Mead Mountain. The party deduced that she had been killed before her body was propped beneath the cavern ceiling.
The party met to new crew members, Rosaline, Jack Dynamite, and (Star’s character). 3 off-worlders looking to get back into the cosmos. Seeing that everyone’s interests were aligned in leaving Vyrtra, the off-worlders became members of the party!
After consulting the Temple of Lorn regarding Warta’s death, the party went to investigate. They followed a faint trail of blood to Snow Peak, a brewery towards the top of Mead Mountain. While they were able to confirm that Warta had visited Snow Peak by speaking to other patrons, the staff insisted that the party stop inquiring about Warta’s murder and explained that it would be bad for business. The party did not press anyone at Snow Peak further regarding the matter.
After speaking to a couple of Giff at Snow Peak, the party learned that Habor Peak, the planet’s only cosmaharbor, has been shut down by the Council of Knowledge due to the obliteration of a nearby planet. The party attempted to seize the opportunity by stealing a Spelljammer docked in the Habor Peak. While the Izraban was able to talk their party into the harbor, the guards quickly became suspicious of the party and asked them to leave. They said they may return with a Title for the Spelljammer.
The party found Writo shortly after who just successfully cheated on his exam. Once they announce that he passes, he will be awarded a grant to fund his explorations so that he may buy a Spelljammer. The party has been invited to the ceremony. ______________________________________________ Session 5 Summary: The party accompanied Writo Cert to his graduation where he would finally be a Cosmic Navigator for the College of Vyr. However, Writo was caught cheating on his final exam and expelled from the college.
Despite this turn of events, the party did not leave empty-handed. A Spell Jamming Helm was displayed behind the graduates. The Helm was for the first Spell Jammer this planet created. After the ceremony, Izraban enchanted the Museum’s Curator and allowed the party to walk out with the Spell Jamming Helm.
The party rushed back to their Spell Jammer ready to install the Helm. But Izraban’s enchantment won’t last much longer. As soon as the Curator comes to his senses he will return to the relic. The party must stave off all who intend to take back the Helm! ______________________________________________ Thank you so much to our wonderful DMs who make this possible for all of us!
